Radon Testing in Great Falls & Butte
Radon testing is the only way to know your home’s indoor radon level, and Cascade County sits in EPA’s highest-potential zone.
Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that comes from soil and rock and can build up inside homes. You can’t see it or smell it. Testing is the only way to know.
Why it matters in Montana. EPA places Cascade County in Zone 1, its highest radon-potential category. The Cascade City-County Health Department reports that 60% of local samples measured above EPA’s 4 pCi/L action level, and that Montana’s average indoor level is 5.9 pCi/L. Any home can test high, old or new, with a basement or without.
How it works. We place a continuous radon monitor in the lowest livable level of the home and explain the closed-house conditions beforehand. Our monitor is calibrated every 10 inspections and also receives an official annual calibration, so you can trust the numbers.
What you receive: a written result in pCi/L, with context on EPA’s 4 pCi/L action level and what next steps, such as mitigation, could look like. We’re available by phone afterward to talk it through.
Radon testing is available on its own or added to a home inspection.
